Eggnog Riot

Eggnog Riot

December 25, 1826 - This was the Christmas when all hell broke loose at West Point Military Academy.

It all started on Christmas Eve when some cadets mixed up their own batch of high-octane eggnog. General mayhem ensued as drunken cadets tossed firewood through windows and fights broke out.

One of the participants was Jefferson Davis, the future president of the Confederacy.

When calm was finally restored, 6 cadets resigned and 19 were court-martialed. Jefferson Davis somehow escaped with a mild probation.
