Fly or Float?

Willa recently asked me, "When you die, do you want to fly or float?"

I wasn't sure how to respond.

She explained, "Angels fly and ghosts float, so do you want to fly or float?"

I still struggled with an answer. I'd like to fly and float, but if I had to choose, I think I might like flying better. However, it does seem that ghosts have more fun, since they get to float around and scare people.

Then Willa went into a long monologue about how Peter Pan appears to fly but he's really just floating because of the fairy dust. She had some other examples, too.

I'm still undecided.

Wow, a few nights ago I had another flying dream. (I would do anything to be able to "fly".) Only this one was more of a floating one. Usually when I am flying, it is briskly, especially common over water, shooting up and then soaring back down to within a couple feet of the water, or in the mountains, like an eagle. But floating is somehow more wonderful; it is like swimming, only you are in the air. A few nights ago, in my sleep, I swam really hard until I got to where I could look down on a tall pine tree(now urban environment), and then I floated over a few blocks to another house. If I could only fly . . . ARG!!! I was so mad upon awakening.
