Last Trip of the Summer

We packed up the kids and flew to North Carolina for a fun visit with Pop and Cie-Cie. We made all the rounds, including stops at Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad and Woodlands BBQ. Click the image above for a slideshow. If you're on a dial-up, click here.

After a few days in the mountains we made our way down to Chapel Hill for a long-awaited reunion with the Nettles and the Vernons.

Pat and Julie allowed us to have a sleepover (6 adults, 4 kids, 1 dog) in their wonderful new home. Willa and Talia bonded with their cross-country soulmates, Hannah and Stella.

Then it was off to Judy's for a pool party with Aunt Joanie. Judy's boys (Milo, Ivan and Asa) were excellent tour guides. We played with the pony, held some baby chicks and had a sword fight. Later that night we enjoyed an incredible dinner with Leigh (Sarah's college roommate), her husband, Chip, and their beautiful children, Katherine and Alexander.

Finally, we collapsed into our hotel for the final episode of Six Feet Under.

The next day we prowled around our old Chapel Hill haunts, before the long drive to Charlotte - and our return flight.
